Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account info: your email address (or Apple ID identifier if you sign in with Apple) and a display name.
• Conversations: the messages you send to Bea and Bea's replies, journal entries, and mood check-ins.
• Device & usage: device model, OS version, app version, language, crash reports, and basic interaction analytics (e.g., screens opened, features used).
• Subscription & purchase data (if you purchase in-app): handled by Apple; we receive only an anonymized receipt to validate entitlement.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

2. How we use information

• Operate the Service — generate replies, remember context, and personalize Bea to you.
• Improve product quality, fix bugs, and prevent abuse.
• Communicate with you about your account or important changes.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your conversations to serve advertising.

3. How AI replies are generated

Bea uses large language model APIs from OpenAI (ChatGPT) to generate responses. When you message Bea, the relevant portion of your conversation is sent to OpenAI to produce a reply. OpenAI processes this data as a subprocessor under its API terms and does not use API content to train its public models. For more information see OpenAI's privacy documentation.

4. Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Your conversations are encrypted at rest on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use industry-standard safeguards and minimize what we collect.

5. Data retention & deletion

We retain your conversations and account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete any individual message, an entire conversation, or your full account from inside the app at any time. Deletions are permanent and propagate to backups within 30 days.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing (including under the EU GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA). You can exercise most rights directly inside the app, or by emailing us. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

7. International transfers

Bea is operated from the United States and our service providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material we will notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. The "Effective" date above always reflects the latest version.
